The County Highway Department is responsible for the maintenance of the County’s approximately 1200 miles of roads, 260 bridges, and roadside ditches. Of the 1200 miles of road, about 500 are paved or concrete, 400 are rock, and 300 are unimproved. Approximately 40 men and women are employed at the highway garage.
